transcript  Filing a New Case – Case Information

Go back home.

[User clicks the home icon and the Filer Dashboard page loads.]

And now let's initiate a new case for filing.

Click on 'Start a New Case.' 

[User clicks the 'Start a New Case' button. The Start a New Case page loads.] 

At this time, only Summary Process and Small Claims cases can be electronically filed.

The Case Information page becomes available and the filer must complete the following details. Again, a red box indicates that these are required fields.

Go ahead and choose Housing Court, and because this is an alphabetical order, you will have to scroll down, and choose Eastern.

[User clicks the Location dropdown and scrolls to select Housing - Eastern (Boston).]

We're gonna go ahead and choose Summary Process for the case type today, and we're gonna select the Efiled Summary Process and Complaint as cause.

[User selects Summary Process from the Category dropdown and then selects EFiled SP Summons and Complaint from the Case Type dropdown.]

Now, the following three fields here are only required to file for an appeal, so in this case we can go ahead and ignore them.

Click Save Changes.

[User clicks the Save Changes button.]
