Hello and welcome to NextGen careers!
My name is Leslie Miller I'm a benefits
planner and I've been with NextGen for a
little over 2 years now. There's a lot to
like about NextGen, we're going to team
up with you and use fun activities to
support your learning new skills such as
improve self- advocacy and increase
confidence and Independence. The best
part is getting a new job that is a good
paying job; you and I will work together
to plan how any public benefits that you
receive will interact with your wages
from a job. It's common for people to
think that if I receive benefits then I
can't work or else I'll lose those
benefits, however this isn't necessarily
so. You and I will work together using
the rules for each benefit program and
predict expected changes to your
benefits once you begin earning wages.
Our goal is no surprises; we will be able
to anticipate changes to your benefits
you will receive support from me as you
make decisions about jobs and the wages
that you will earn. When you use your
knowledge about benefits to make
decisions about employment, you will feel
empowered and that's a very good feeling.
