After completing your intake session with an OLPA Leave Benefit Coordinator, your first question will likely be, "When will I hear back?" Once you submit your complete and official documentation we'll review your application within five business days. Then you'll receive a letter with approval or denial of your leave request, along with important instructions on how to navigate your leave. It's important to remember getting approved for leave is different from getting approved for pay. OLPA handles your leave approval. If you apply to get paid through PFML, The Department of Family and Medical Leave, DFML will send you a separate decision. And with approval, you're good to go.
Of course, reach out to your OLPA Leave Benefit Coordinator at any time with questions or changes that could affect your leave. Your HR department's leave liaison will also be there to ensure our timesheets are processed correctly during your leave, answer any questions you have about health insurance and benefits, and ensure a smooth transition back to work. Leave liaisons are leave experts and can point you in the right direction through the entire process.
