Paid Family and Medical Leave, or PFML, is a benefit offered to Massachusetts employees by the Commonwealth.
PFML allows you to manage your own serious illness, bond with a new child in your family, manage affairs while a family member is on active duty, or take family leave to care for a family member with a serious health condition.
The term "family member" applies to a wide range of people. They do not need to live in Massachusetts.
You will need to have your family member's health care provider fill out a Certification to Care for a Family Member form.
You are eligible for up to 12 weeks of paid family leave, and a combined 26 weeks of paid family and medical leave.
