hi I'm Sarah Luz and I'm a career
counselor for NextGen North I've been a
career counselor for about two months
now I was previously a special education
teacher in a transition program where I
was also a transition specialist. We will
get to explore different opportunities
that fit within your skill set but also
your interests, finding the perfect place
for you. Whether it be a training to get
a certification and something that
you're really passionate about or
finding that first job to build up your
resume to get to where you want to be,
working with young adults in NextGen has
been really amazing. Something fun or
interesting about me is I'm a legal
guardian for one of my former students
who is a 22-year-old with Down Syndrome,
her name is Olivia, and she is the light
of my life, and exploring the world of
work with her is really what kind of
drove me into this career as a career
counselor. Seeing her find purpose in her
everyday life and excitement for work
has been amazing; she works at my family
Diner now and every time we talk about
it or drive by she'll point it out to
someone and say I work there and she has
so much pride in it. I'm really excited
to learn more about you to be able to
help you find your place in the world of
work.
