[J. Jacques Carter, MD, MPH Beth Isreal Deaconess Medical Center speaking] Some prostate cancers can be deadly, while others may grow so slowly that finding them and treating them may cause more harm than good.

[Dr. Luckmann speaking] It can be confusing, so it's important to talk to your doctor about the benefits and harms before getting tested.

[Dr. Carter speaking] If you're African-American or have a brother or father with prostate cancer, testing can start as early as age 40.
