Autumn is a special time of year, but keeping drinking water clean is a year-round job. When you walk on a trail in the DCR watershed system, the things you do affect the water supply for millions of people.  Leave No Trace to help keep these water supply sources clean and healthy for everyone.

Fall Hiking Season

Be Safe, Be Seen! 

  • Be aware of hunting seasons and wear a blaze orange hat or vest for visibility and safety.
  • Dress in layers and sturdy footwear, as fall weather can change quickly and trails may be wet and slick.
  • Check sunset times and be off the trails before dark.

Know Before You Go 

Use this interactive Public Access map for regulations and other information about visiting DCR Watershed property. Reminders to pack out all trash, stay on roads and trails, stay out of the water, and no fires or smoking.  Please leave pets at home; dogs are not allowed on most water supply lands.

Hunting on DCR Water Supply Protection Lands

Hunting is allowed on much of DCR Water Supply property.  Use the interactive Hunt Map to identify areas, find out about regulations, and apply for permits.  

Reminder to all to wear hunter orange during hunting season!

Fall Fishing

Fishing rules and end of season dates vary by reservoir. Check the public access fishing map for the latest regulations. 

Always inspect your gear.  Clean your boat, lines, and waders before and after each trip to prevent the spread of invasive species.
