The App Drivers Union filed a petition with the Department of Labor Relations seeking to be certified as the exclusive bargaining representative of rideshare drivers for the purpose of collectively bargaining over terms and conditions for the rideshare industry.
On May 15, 2026, the Department of Labor Relations determined that the App Drivers Union has been designated as the bargaining representative of at least twenty five percent (25%) of Active Rideshare Drivers, as defined under the Law and 456 CMR 24.01. The law requires the Department to wait seven days before certifying the App Drivers Union as the exclusive bargaining representative. If, during those seven days, another union provides evidence that at least 25% of Active Rideshare Drivers in the bargaining unit have designated it as their bargaining representative, or a rideshare driver provides evidence that at least 25% of Active TNDs in the bargaining unit do not wish to be represented by any union, then the Department will hold an election among all Active Rideshare Drivers in the bargaining unit.
