Cape Cod bridges program

Addressing the aging Sagamore and Bourne bridges and the surrounding roadway networks is one of the most important transportation programs in the region.

The Sagamore and Bourne bridges are critical to the economy of Cape Cod and the surrounding communities. These bridges are nearly 90 years old, functionally obsolete, require frequent maintenance, and no longer meet the needs of the traveling public.

MassDOT’s Cape Cod Bridges Program will support the safe, efficient, and reliable movement of people, goods, and services across the Cape Cod Canal.
