The public outreach process utilizes comprehensive communication strategies to engage the diverse communities within the region and solicit feedback.
To better understand and engage these communities and their needs, a robust Public Involvement Plan (PIP) was developed to guide the public outreach process and identify key stakeholders and an outreach schedule. This has enabled MassDOT to conduct effective outreach and engage with many different groups and organizations to ensure the outreach process is as inclusive as possible.
Information from public meetings and open houses is available on the documents and meeting materials page, and these meetings will continue throughout the duration of the replacement of the Cape Cod Bridges.
Soliciting feedback and incorporating public input has been a top priority. Comments from the public and key stakeholders have been integrated to the maximum extent possible. In addition to feedback submitted in-person, via phone, mail, or email, the public also has access to an online comment form. To get in touch with the MassDOT team, submit a comment or query.

Mashpee: Senator Fernandes' Cape Cod Bridges Forum
At the invitation of State Sen. Dylan Fernandes, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation’s Cape Cod Bridges team will participate in Senator Fernandes’ quarterly Cape Bridges Forum at Mashpee Town Hall at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 27.
At this event, Senator Fernandes and the MassDOT team will share the latest updates on the replacement of the Cape Cod Bridges and answer questions from the public. This is the fifth in a series of public forums hosted by Senator Fernandes regarding the replacement of the Sagamore and Bourne Bridges.
MassDOT continues to move this project forward, recently announcing the completion of the federal National Environmental Policy Act review process, an important milestone in the design and project delivery process. MassDOT also expects to issue a Request for Proposals to design-build contractors in September 2026 for the replacement of the Sagamore Bridge, with the goal of issuing a Notice to Proceed in December 2027.
