The Commission reversed the bypass of a candidate for original appointment to the New Bedford Police Department where the City believed he lied on a previous LTC application about his residency.
The Civil Service Commission determined that the Springfield Police Department had just cause to terminate the Appellant where his conduct, including untruthfulness, was violative of the Springfield Police Department’s Rules and Regulations.
The Commission denied the bypass appeal of a candidate seeking appointment as Police Officer for the City of New Bedford as the candidate was a previous Bristol County Sheriff who was discharged for a personal relationship with an inmate in his care.
