Enterprise Artificial Intelligence (AI) Assistant

Massachusetts is leading the way in the responsible use of AI. The State has partnered with OpenAI to launch ChatGPT, a secure, enterprise AI Assistant to help employees work more efficiently and deliver services to residents more effectively.

Why ChatGPT

ChatGPT is designed to support employees. It can help with tasks like drafting, outlining, summarizing, and quick research, allowing employees to spend more time applying their judgment, expertise, and experience. By reducing time spent on routine work, the tool helps “give minutes back on your mission.”

Security and privacy are top priorities. The Massachusetts ChatGPT workspace operates in a walled-off environment that protects Massachusetts data and does not train public AI models. Vendor security and privacy controls have been thoroughly reviewed to meet State standards.

State Employee Resources

Training and support are available for everyone with a license. Employees will have access to hands-on training, self-paced learning resources, and real-world examples—building skills that will be valuable now and throughout their careers.

AI Assistant Knowledge Center

The AI Assistant Knowledge Center is the go-to resource for Massachusetts employees for all things ChatGPT.  In the Knowledge Center, employees can expect to find resources such as security and privacy guidance, helpful tips and FAQs, resources and support channels, and currently available features.

Rollout Schedule

You may notice that some of your colleagues have access before others. TSS will be working to rollout ChatGPT to all Executive Branch employees over the next several months.

Why a phased rollout?

We’re starting with a small pilot to test ChatGPT in real work settings, learn what works, and refine training, guidance, and support. This helps us address issues early and ensure the tool is ready to deliver real value as access expands.

What this means for you

  • Access is rolling out in stages
  • Not having access yet doesn’t mean you were overlooked
  • More employees will receive access as the rollout continues
