Will the AI Assistant monitor or track what I do?
The AI Assistant is designed to support your work, not to actively monitor it.
Like many state systems, basic system activity is logged for security, audit, and compliance purposes. These logs are only reviewed if needed through proper legal and administrative processes.
Will the AI Assistant learn from what I type?
No. The AI Assistant will operate in a secure, walled-off environment that does not train public AI models on your data. Your prompts and outputs are not used to improve the public model or shared outside state government. However, ChatGPT memory feature may retain specific, discrete information from prior interactions (such as user preferences or role context) to improve continuity and usability.
Can I use the AI Assistant for any type of work?
The AI Assistant is intended for state-business use only. It should be used to support your role within the Executive Branch—such as drafting documents, summarizing reports, or researching topics relevant to your work. It should not be used for personal matters or to generate sensitive content without proper review.
What if I’m not comfortable using AI?
That’s okay! Use of the AI Assistant is voluntary. Training and support will be available to help you get comfortable, and you can choose how much or how little you want to use it.
Can I trust the AI Assistant’s answers?
The AI Assistant is a powerful tool, but it’s not perfect. It may occasionally generate incorrect or incomplete information. That’s why human oversight is essential—you must always review and verify the information you put into ChatGPT, and the outputs it provides, before using them in official work. It supports your work, but you remain responsible for the final result.
Can I create my own ChatGPT account using my Mass.gov email, independent of this pilot?
No. While using the tool remains optional, employees who choose to use ChatGPT will be required to utilize the license assigned to them through the enterprise procurement.
Who do I contact if I have questions or issues?
Each agency will have an AI Lead or point of contact to support the rollout, who will share important points of contact with you. You’ll also have access to training resources as the program expands, including an AI Assistant Knowledge Center.
What if the AI Assistant gives me an output I don’t like or agree with?
That’s expected—and it’s part of how the tool works. The AI Assistant often improves when you refine your prompt or ask a follow-up question. You can adjust your instructions, clarify what you want, or try a different approach.
The AI Assistant is meant to support your work, not judge it. Learning how to guide it takes time, and training and support are available to help you build confidence.
Will the AI Assistant work on mobile devices?
The initial rollout will focus on desktop access, but mobile compatibility may be explored depending on the platform selected and agency needs. If you have ChatGPT installed on your personal mobile device, please ensure that you’re not using that tool for your work responsibilities.
How will this impact my job or responsibilities?
The AI Assistant is a tool designed to assist you in your role, not change your job description. It helps reduce time spent on repetitive tasks so you can focus on higher-value work. Your judgment, experience, and decision-making remain essential.
Can I suggest new use cases for the AI Assistant?
Absolutely! We encourage you to identify and share use cases that could benefit their teams. This helps scale innovation across government and ensures the tool evolves to meet real needs.
