Public Hearing Notice Barnstable – Pedestrian improvements on Route 6A, from Route 132 to Old Jail Lane
Overview
A Design Public Hearing will be held to present the design for the proposed project in Barnstable, MA.
Purpose:
The purpose of this hearing is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed project. All views and comments submitted in response to the hearing will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.
Proposal:
The proposed project consists of creating a compliant sidewalk along the Route 6A corridor within the project limits from the Route 132 intersection with Route 6A to Old Jail Lsane which is the end of State highway layout west of Barnstable village. In addition to being a Route to Barnstable Village, a school exists on this corridor and it is a residential neighborhood. Existing roadway cross-section provides limited bicycle accommodation.
A secure right-of-way is necessary for this project. Acquisitions in fee and permanent or temporary easements may be required. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is responsible for acquiring all needed rights in private or public lands. MassDOT’s policy concerning land acquisitions will be presented in the hearing.
