Petitioner: Michael Lazo
The petitioner is back before the board, after previously being before the board on October 7, 2026, in which the board voted to place the item on a 60-day hold, which provided a deadline of December 6, 2026, for the applicant to gather information from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) office and Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) office showing the specific requirements that sprinklers are required related to elevators.
The petitioner has provided a letter from Matthew Deacon, the General Counsel of the Executive Office of Veterans Services, which cites the specific regulations of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requiring that fire sprinklers must be installed in the Elevator Machine Room and all nursing homes must be fully sprinklered.

Product Variance - Outlook Outdoor Elevator

Petitioner: Jason Ford
The petitioner is seeking a Product Variance for the Outlook Outdoor Elevator, which is compliant except for ASME A17.1 (2025) Section 5.3.1.1.2 (b). As this is a completely shaftless elevator, there is no hatch cover closing an opening through the floor. Instead, it has a top obstruction safety pan covering the entire top of the cab. The top safety pan will shut the unit off in the up direction when 20 lbs. or more is placed on the top.
