In accordance with the provisions of G. L. c. 30A, §20, and Chapter 2 of the Acts of 2025, notice is hereby given that a hybrid meeting of the Board of Elevator Regulations will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.

    Petitioner: Christine Parnell

    The petitioner is back before the board after being before the board on June 23, 2026, and April 7, 2026, and the board voted to place the item on a 60-day hold, which provided a deadline of August 22, 2026, for the applicant to gather evidence proving the battery lower is not required by the local building department and the Springfield Fire Department. 

    The petitioner is seeking relief from 524 CMR 8.06 by requesting permission to remove the battery lowering unit from this elevator.

    The petitioner is back before the board after previously being before the board on July 21st and June 23, 2026, seeking a variance from ASME A17.1-2013 section 2.5.4 (b) to allow the notch in the car sill to exceed the max of 1.25" dimension to keep the current dimension of 2.5”.

The board voted to place the item on a 60-day hold, which provided a deadline of September 22, 2026, for the applicant to investigate additional options for code compliance or provide documentation showing the scope of hardship. Documentation was submitted on July 30, 2026.

    Petitioner: Bill Richardson

    The petitioner is seeking Product Variance Approval from 524 CMR chapter 35 section 5.3.1.1.1, for the LUMA – Savaria Residential Lift, as they feel a separate machine room is not required as the machine space is on the cartop and fully accessible.

            The petitioner was before the board on July 7, 2026, and the board voted to place the item on a 120-day hold, which provided a deadline of November 4, 2026, for the applicant to investigate additional options for code compliance or provide documentation showing the scope of hardship. 

The petitioner is seeking a variance from ASME A17.1-2013 Section 6.1.3.6.4 - Safety Zone in which they are proposing a solution for the deficiency.
