Public Hearing Notice Braintree – Reconstruction of Allen Street
Overview
A Design Public Hearing will be held to present the design for the proposed project in Braintree, MA.
Purpose:
The purpose of this hearing is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed project. All views and comments submitted in response to the hearing will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.
Proposal:
The proposed project consists of correcting existing problems on Allen Street including deteriorated pavement, sidewalk, curbing, and retaining wall conditions, narrow roadways with insufficient street parking, traffic obstruction caused by street parking, and troublesome intersections.
The project area generally includes the intersection of Allen Street, Shaw Street, and Thayer Road, along with the entire eastern segment of Allen Street branching from the intersection. This eastern segment of Allen Street spans approximately 0.26 miles from the Shaw Street/Thayer Street intersection to its intersection with Quincy Avenue (Route 53). The limits of each of the other roadway approaches at the intersection extend approximately 50 feet each, except for Thayer Road, which extends approximately 100 feet.
Bicycle accommodation consisting of an 8’ Shared Use Path have been provided in accordance with applicable design guides.
A secure right-of-way is necessary for this project. Acquisitions in fee and permanent or temporary easements may be required. The Town of Braintree is responsible for acquiring all needed rights in private or public lands. MassDOT’s policy concerning land acquisitions will be presented in the hearing.
