Public Meeting Notice Charlemont - ST 8A (West Hawley Road) over Deerfield River bridge replacement project
Overview
A Public Informational Meeting will be held by MassDOT to discuss the proposed ST 8A (West Hawley Road) over Deerfield River bridge replacement project in Charlemont, MA.
Purpose
The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed West Hawley Road Bridge project. All views and comments made at the meeting will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.
Proposal:
The proposed project consists of the complete replacement of the existing bridge with a new bridge. The new bridge will be built in stages. During the construction stages, one southbound lane will be open while northbound traffic will be detoured approximately 2 miles via Tower Road. The new bridge will have an eastern sidewalk. The travel way will consist of two 5' bike lanes, two 2' buffers, and two 10' travel lanes. The pedestrian and bicycle accommodations have been provided in accordance with applicable design guides.
