Public Hearing Notice  Greenfield - Route 2 (Mohawk Trail) Intersection Improvements

A Live Virtual Design Public Hearing will be hosted on the MassDOT website below to present the design for the proposed Route 2 (Mohawk Trail) Intersection Improvements project in Greenfield, MA.

Purpose:

The purpose of this hearing is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed intersections improvement project. All views and comments submitted in response to the hearing will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.

Proposal: 

The proposed project consists of providing vehicular and pedestrian safety improvements at two intersections on Route 2 (Mohawk Trail) including pedestrian crossings and a new traffic signal at the entrance to the Big Y and improvements to the existing traffic signal at Colrain /Robbins Road. Additional pedestrian safety and convenience will be provided by extending sidewalks on the south side of the roadway from KFC/Taco Bell to the Home Depot entrance (450 ft.) and on the north side from Irving gas station to the Big Y entrance.

A secure right-of-way is necessary for this project. Acquisitions in fee and permanent or temporary easements may be required. MassDOT is responsible for acquiring all needed rights in private or public lands. The MassDOT policy concerning land acquisitions will be presented in the hearing.
