January 24, 2017 State Ethics Commission Meeting Minutes- Public Session

PUBLIC SESSION

MEETING CONVENED

Chairman Barbara Dortch-Okara called the meeting to order at 2:20 p.m.  Also in attendance were Vice-Chairman Regina L. Quinlan, Commissioner David A. Mills, Commissioner Thomas J. Sartory, and Commissioner Maria J. Krokidas. 

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR INTERVIEWS

The Commission conducted interviews with two finalists for the position of Executive Director.

The Commission interviewed William McAvoy from 2:20 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.  The Commission interviewed David A. Wilson from 2:51 p.m. to 3:28 p.m.   

Following the interviews, the Commission decided to wait until the February 16, 2017 Commission meeting to discuss the candidates for the Executive Director position.  The selection committee will conduct reference checks for the finalists before the next Commission meeting.

[At 3:35 p.m. the Commission took a brief break.  At 3:41 p.m. the Commission reconvened.]

ETHICS TASK FORCE

After a brief discussion, the Commission decided to wait until its meeting scheduled for January 25, 2017, to further discuss how to provide assistance to the Task Force on Integrity in State and Local Government if the Commission is provided the opportunity to do so.

ADJOURN MEETING

At 3:53 p.m., on the motion of Chairman Dortch-Okara, seconded by Commissioner Krokidas the Commission voted 5-0 to adjourn.
