Overview
Meet at Wachusett Reservoir Gate 35, intersection of Route 110 and Chace Hill Rd, Sterling. About 4.5 miles round trip.
This is a moderate round trip hike with hills where we will pause for wildlife watching opportunities and loop at Tahanto point.
Get to know beautiful shoreline views of the Wachusett Reservoir with this hiking series to different tails in each of the four towns of the reservoir. The fall/winter landscape unveils features hidden the rest of the year. Dress in layers with sturdy footwear, be prepared for windy conditions near the water. Bring water and trekking poles, traction devices, or snowshoes depending on trail conditions, and your sense of adventure!
Dogs are not allowed on water supply protection lands.
Hikes will be a slow pace and last about two hours. In the case of inclement weather, hike may be cancelled or modified. To check on hike status please call 617-352-4044 or email Kathryn.Parent@mass.gov.
