Public Hearing Notice  Lakeville - Design Public Hearing webinar and comment period

A Virtual Design Public Hearing will be held on the MassDOT website below to present the design for the proposed Route 79 (Rhode Island Road) project in Lakeville, MA.

Purpose:

The purpose of this hearing is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed Route 79 (Rhode Island Road) project. All views and comments submitted in response to the hearing will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.

Proposal:

The proposed project includes approximately 2.5 miles of Route 79 (Rhode Island Road) from the Taunton City Line to Clear Pond Road. The project improvements include widening the roadway cross section to a minimum of 32 feet to provide useable shoulder on both sides of the roadway for bicycle accommodation; a new signalized intersection with Route 18 (Bedford Street), and drainage improvements for the extent of the project.

A secure right-of-way is necessary for this project. Acquisitions in fee and permanent or temporary easements may be required. The Town of Lakeville is responsible for acquiring all needed rights in private or public lands. MassDOT policy concerning land acquisitions will be presented in the hearing.
