Public Meeting Notice  Nantucket – Intersection improvements and milestone rotary reconstruction

A Virtual Public Informational Meeting will be hosted on the MassDOT website below to present a conceptual design for the proposed project in Nantucket, MA.

Purpose:

The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed project which is currently at the pre-25 percent design stage. All opinions and comments submitted in response to the meeting will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent practicable.

Proposal:

The proposed project consists of reconstructing the Milestone Road rotary as a modern roundabout to improve safety and traffic flow at the intersection of Milestone Road, Orange Street, Sparks Avenue, and Old South Road. The intersection experiences high congestion and was included on MassDOT’s list of statistically high bicycle crash cluster locations during the period between 2008-2017. The project would provide safer, more accessible accommodations for people walking and biking through the intersection. A shared-use path is proposed around the roundabout in accordance with applicable MassDOT design guidelines. The project is inclusive of utility upgrades, streetlighting, and landscaping.

This meeting is accessible to people with disabilities.
