Public Hearing Notice North Attleborough – bridge replacement, Mendon Road over Abbott Run River
Overview
A Virtual Design Public Hearing will be hosted on the MassDOT website below to present the design for the proposed project in North Attleborough, MA.
Purpose:
The purpose of this hearing is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed project. All views and comments submitted in response to the hearing will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.
Proposal:
The proposed project consists of replacing existing Bridge No. N-16-004 (3JU) located on Mendon Road, south of the intersection with Depot Street, spanning Abbott Run River with a replacement bridge structure in the Town of North Attleborough, Massachusetts. The project includes enhanced pedestrian and bicyclist facilities per MassDOT Healthy Transportation Policy Directive (P-13-0001).
The project limits begin approximately 250 feet north of the Mendon Road and Depot Street intersection and continue south across the existing bridge structure approximately 250 feet south of the intersection of Mendon Road and Chase Street, resulting in a total project length of approximately 0.15 miles or 800 linear feet, with bicycle accommodation consisting of a usable shoulder are proposed in accordance with applicable design guides.
The project includes bridge replacement, full-depth pavement construction, roadway resurfacing, the inclusion of complete street elements including ADA accessibility, pedestrian curb ramps, pedestrian sidewalks and wide shoulder for bicycle accommodations, pavement marking and restriping, improved signage, and associated drainage and utility adjustments. Any work on the minor streets will be limited to similar approach work.
A secure right-of-way is necessary for this project. Acquisitions in fee and permanent or temporary easements may be required. The town of North Attleborough is responsible for acquiring all needed rights in private or public lands. MassDOT’s policy concerning land acquisitions will be presented in the hearing.
