Overview
A Virtual Design Public Hearing will be hosted on the MassDOT website below to present the design for the proposed project in Palmer, MA.
Purpose:
The purpose of this hearing is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed project. All views and comments submitted in response to the hearing will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.
Proposal:
The proposed project consists of the design and construction of roadway and bridge superstructures along Interstate 90 and a bridge over Interstate 90 in Palmer, Massachusetts. The limits of the Project extend along I-90 from approximately Thorndike Street to approximately Boston Road in Palmer, including the bridge replacement of Flynt Street over I-90.
The Project consists of replacement of four (4) bridge superstructures on I-90, which includes I-90 eastbound and westbound over Thorndike Street, I-90 eastbound and westbound over Boston Road and bridge replacement of Flynt Street over I-90. All mainline bridges on I-90 are currently three span superstructures and will be replaced with three span superstructures. Flynt Street over I-90 is currently a 4-span bridge and will be replaced with a 2-span bridge. The reconstruction of superstructures is anticipated to be completed on one side of I-90 at a time. Accelerated Bridge demolition and construction would occur on weekend periods only. The proposed project will also include a detour for Flynt Street Bridge Replacement and limited weekend detours to Thorndike Street and Boston Road.
The Project will also include roadway reconstruction, milling and overlay, highway drainage/storm water management facilities, traffic management inclusive of temporary crossover, temporary precast movable barriers (Zipper lanes), pavement markings and signage, utility relocation/protection, and all other related bridge and highway work.
