Overview   of Public Hearing on Proposed Amendments to 540 CMR 25.00 - Ignition Interlock Devices

The hearing is held pursuant to M.G.L. c. 30A, § 2 to provide opportunity for public comment on proposed amendments to update the RMV’s authority to issue interlock violations as permitted by the enabling statute, and to implement the new first-offender and indigency provisions of the fiscal year 2021 budget. See St. 2020, c. 227, §§ 35-36, 58. The purpose of 540 CMR 25.00 is to establish guidelines and procedures for the certification, installation, use and maintenance of Ignition Interlock Devices.
