RMV Service Centers
Permit/License/ID Related Transactions
If you need to complete an in-person permit (non-CDL), license, or ID transaction, you are required to make a reservation online. Select the Make a Reservation button at top of page.
- After booking online, you will be sent a confirmation email that instructs you to arrive on time at your designated time and prepared for your visit. You must CONFIRM your appointment by clicking the VERIFY MY EMAIL ADDRESS link in the email sent to you by the reservation system. If you do not follow the directions in this email, and click the link, your appointment will be cancelled within 15 minutes. If you do not see the email please search your junk/spam folder after scheduling your appointment.
- If you are more than 15 minutes late for your appointment, you will need to reschedule your appointment.
Please note that WEDNESDAY mornings between 9:00am and 10:00am are reserved for SENIOR CITIZENS AND A RESERVATION IS REQUIRED FOR THOSE CUSTOMERS OVER 65 YEARS OF AGE WHO ARE PERFORMING A LICENSE OR ID RELATED TRANSACTION.
Registration Related Transactions
Transactions that CAN be performed at an RMV Service Center without an appointment:
- Register My Vehicle
- Transfer My Registration & Title from out of state
- Reinstate My Registration
- Transfer Vehicle to a Surviving Spouse
- Amend My Registration
- Confirm Identity for a Registration Renewal
- Apply for a Certificate of Title
Please note that WEDNESDAY mornings between 9:00am and 10:00am are reserved for SENIOR CITIZENS. WALK IN SERVICES FOR THE ABOVE REGISTRATION TRANSACTIONS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE DURING THIS TIME FOR THOSE CUSTOMERS OVER 65 YEARS OF AGE.
In addition, these RMV Service Centers cannot process certain registration related transactions which are also highlighted below.
Customers are encouraged to continue to conduct RMV registration transactions by working through their insurance agents and auto dealers who are able to complete bulk transactions in-person through Business 2 Business (B2B) services.
- Chicopee RMV is strictly a B2B location and walk-ins cannot be conducted.
- Natick RMV is a limited service location and cannot issue new plates, but can transfer your current plate to a newly acquired vehicle.

IRP transactions for new vehicles (or new to IRP) are only processed at Milford, Wilmington, and Springfield RMV Service Centers and do not require a reservation. |

This transaction can only be done online on the Department of Revenue's (DOR) website. |
Replace My Plate Return Receipt |
This transaction can only be done by calling the Contact Center at 1-857-368-8000. |
Cancel My Registration |
This transaction can only be done online at this time. |
Extend My Temporary Plate |
This transaction can only be done online (select Access My Profile). |
Pay My License and Road Test Fees |
This transaction can only be done online. |
Renew My Registration |
This transaction can only be done online or by mailing your registration renewal to: |
Replace My Lost/Damaged Plate |
This transaction can only be done online at this time. |
Replace My Registration |
This transaction can only be done online at this time or at a AAA office, if you are a member. |

IRP – Renew My Apportioned Registration |
IRP Renewals can be mailed to RMV, IRP Department 25 Newport Ave Ext Quincy, MA 02171 or follow the instructions in your IRP Renewal packet to obtain online access. |
Apply for a Salvage/Owner Retained Title |
This transaction can only be done by mail at this time. |
Correct a Title |
This transaction can only be done by mailing your application to: |

AAA Members
If you are a AAA member, an appointment is required for all RMV transactions at all AAA locations.
AAA members can process the following RMV-related transactions at AAA locations throughout Massachusetts:
• Renew your Passenger (class D) and/or Motorcycle (class M) driver's license
• Replace your driver's license
• Renew your Massachusetts Identification (Mass ID) card
• Replace your Mass ID
• Start your Passenger (class D) or Motorcycle (class M) learner's permit application
• Renew most vehicle registrations
• Replace most vehicle registrations
• Transfer your registration (limited)
• Replace most vehicle titles
