Overview of Public notice to extend comment period on privatization regulations
On Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the Office of the State Auditor held a public hearing, in accordance with M.G.L. c. 7, § 55(c) and M.G.L. c. 30A, for the adoption of proposed regulations 965 CMR 5.00 Privatization Contracts, at McCormack Building, One Ashburton Place, 21st Floor, Conference Room 3, Boston, MA 02108. The proposed regulations will govern the process that agencies and applicable authorities must follow when seeking to contract for services, which are substantially similar to and in lieu of services, which regular state or authority employees presently perform. The proposed regulations will govern privatization of state services pursuant to M.G.L. c. 7, §§ 52 through 55.
The Office of the State Auditor notified all interested persons to submit written testimony or comments on or before Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. The Office of the State Auditor has determined that it is in the public interest to extend the written comment period until Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. Interested persons may submit written comments through e-mail to osa.regulations@sao.state.ma.us or through mail to Deputy Auditor & General Counsel Timothy V. Dooling, Office of the State Auditor, One Ashburton Place, Room 1819, Boston, MA 02108. The Office of the State Auditor will consider written comments received on or before 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 31, 2017. Please note that comments which the Office of the State Auditor receives may be considered public records.
The Office of the State Auditor has published a copy of the proposed regulations on its website http://www.mass.gov/auditor. Interested persons may request a printed copy of the proposed regulations through mail to Deputy Auditor & General Counsel Timothy V. The Office of the State Auditor may adopt a revised version of the proposed regulations taking into account relevant comments that come to its attention.
