Public Meeting Notice  Route 44 over Route 24 Bridge Replacement Project kick-off presentation

MassDOT’s project to replace the existing Route 44 over Route 24 bridge in Raynham will begin soon. Prior to the start of major construction in October 2018, MassDOT’s contractor, SPS New England, will perform early action work that includes surveying, tree and brush clearing, and ramp modifications.

The primary goal of the Route 44 over Route 24 Bridge Replacement Project is to replace the existing bridge structure, which is structurally deficient and functionally obsolete. Other project goals include incorporating functionality and safety improvements into the roadway and highway interchange system between South Street West and Orchard Street on Route 44. The project also includes, reconstructing on and off ramps, improving bicycle, pedestrian and ADA accommodations, widening and raising the vertical clearance of the bridge, and more.

At this meeting, MassDOT and the project team will present a construction phasing and schedule overview, discuss traffic management, and respond to questions regarding the upcoming construction. The presentation will take place during the Board of Selectmen’s regularly scheduled meeting.
