Overview   of Sumner Tunnel Centennial Project - Virtual open house

Members of the Sumner Tunnel Centennial project team are hosting a virtual open house to talk about the work to restore the Sumner Tunnel starting next year. Please join us anytime during this 4-hour virtual event and stay for a few minutes or as long as you like. Project team experts in transportation, construction, project engineering, and public outreach will be available for the public to ask questions, provide comments, or learn about the project for the first time. All are invited, including residents, abutters, local business owners, and interested commuters.

Please note this meeting will be recorded. Spanish and Arabic interpretation will be available.

Please visit mass.gov/sumner100 for the most up-to-date project schedule and upcoming opportunities to engage with the project.

How will this affect you?

The Sumner Tunnel, between East Boston and the North End, will be undergoing a full restoration beginning in 2022.  Due to the necessary restoration work that will be required, the tunnel will be closed to vehicular traffic and will create impacts to the community and commuters during construction.
