Everett-Somerville – Mystic River bicycle pedestrian bridge

Connecting Everett and Somerville for pedestrians and cyclists over the Mystic River.

Overview

The Mystic River Bicycle and Pedestrian Bridge is a proposed project that will create a new, safe, and accessible crossing over the Mystic River, linking the communities of Everett and Somerville. This vital connection will tie together the path networks on both sides of the river—linking Draw Seven Park in Somerville with the Gateway Park trail and public boardwalk at the Encore Resort in Everett.

Once complete, the bridge will serve as a critical missing link in the regional active transportation network, enhancing access to local destinations such as Assembly Row, Draw Seven Park, the Lower Broadway District, and key public transit connections. The bridge is designed to support walking, biking, and other forms of non-motorized travel, offering a reliable alternative to vehicular crossings and promoting healthier, more sustainable mobility options for residents and visitors alike.
