OSD's Category Management Team develops Statewide Contracts that meet the diverse needs of public buyers across the Commonwealth. A key part of this process is partnering with Strategic Sourcing Teams (SSTs), whose members provide valuable industry expertise and purchasing experience.
Drawing on knowledge from Massachusetts state agencies and local governments helps OSD identify the best solutions, develop effective solicitations, evaluate vendor responses, and award contracts that deliver the best value. Category Managers rely on these partnerships throughout the procurement process and continue to consult SST members after contract award to help monitor performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
SST activities typically take place over six to nine months, with members meeting about once a week for approximately one hour, though participation may vary depending on the stage of the procurement.
