Guide Health and Wellness Instructor

Pre-requisites to receiving certification as an authorized Health and Wellness Instructor Trainer. Certification and training is required for those interested in teaching Health and Wellness within their police department or for all MPTC programs (Recruit, Reserve, and In-Service trainings). The instructor course curriculum is designed to teach the instructor candidates how to teach, manage and conduct a Health and Wellness class.

Level I: Basic Health and Wellness Instructor

Instructors who provide training within their respective departments or to other departments but do not instruct for the MPTC.

Requirements

  • Successfully meet basic requirements of MPTC Level I Instructor
  • Demonstrate expertise or experience in the field of Health and Wellness
  • Minimum of 3 years Law Enforcement experience or equivalent health and wellness certification and experience.

Certification

  • Instructor Certification is valid up to one calendar year.
  • Prior to or upon expiration, all instructors must reapply for continued certification.
  • Must meet program specific re-certification requirements

Level II: MPTC Assistant Health and Wellness Instructor

Level II Instructors assist in MPTC Academy Health and Wellness programming. Level II Instructors may assist in recruit training, in-service, and reserve classes.

  • Meet basic requirements of MPTC Level I and Level  II Instructor
  • Completed MPTC Health and Wellness Instructor Development course or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate expertise or experience in the field of Health and Wellness
  • Minimum of 3 years Law Enforcement experience or equivalent health and wellness certification and  experience. 

Certification

  • Instructor Certification is valid up to one calendar year.

Level III: MPTC Lead Health and Wellness Instructor

Level III Instructors are Lead Instructors at MPTC Academies, responsible for dissemination of MPTC curricula at recruit, reserve, and in-service levels. Responsible for mentoring and evaluating Level I and Level II instructors.

Requirements

  • Successfully meet basic requirements of MPTC Level I, II and III Instructor
  • Completed MPTC Health and Wellness Instructor Development course or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as Health and Wellness instructor at MPTC Academy or equivalent Law Enforcement instruction. 
  • Demonstrate expertise or experience in the field of Health and Wellness

Certification

  • Instructor Certification is valid up to one calendar year.
  • Prior to or upon expiration, all instructors must reapply for continued certification.

Must meet program specific re-certification requirements.

Level IV: MPTC Master Health and Wellness Instructor

Level IV Master Instructors are responsible for overseeing, monitoring, and mentoring all programs assigned by MPTC Statewide Coordinators and MPTC administrators. Level IV Master Instructors are certified to teach MPTC Health and Wellness Instructor Development course.

Requirements

  • Successfully meet basic requirements of MPTC Level I, II, III, and IV Instructor
  • Completed MPTC Health and Wellness Instructor Development course or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience as Health and Wellness Lead instructor at MPTC Academy or equivalent Law Enforcement instruction. 
  • Demonstrate expertise or experience in the field of Health and Wellness
