Highway Surveys

The MassDOT Survey section includes a Boston Survey Office and Survey Departments in each District office.

The MassDOT Highway Division Survey Section:

Coordinates MassDOT survey activities for design and construction, including those performed through statewide contracts for S1 - Engineering and Field Survey, S2 - Total Station AutoCAD Base Plan Services, and S4 - Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.

Operates and maintains the MaCORS Real-Time Network.

Maintains a statewide network of geodetic control in addition to setting MassDOT project specific control.

Maintains the boundaries of the Commonwealth pursuant to MGL Chapter 1, and the records of city and town line boundaries pursuant to MGL Chapter 42.
