What you need for Apply for a lead-safe renovation or deleading license

  • All renewals, initial Deleading Contractor, and all Lead Safe Renovator licenses must be done by email only. Renewal applications will not be accepted during in-person licensing.
  • Proof of online payment only for the correct amount. No personal checks, money orders, bank checks, or company checks are accepted for renewals.
  • Please be aware that Contractor applications take 30-45 days for renewal.

  • The correct application form for the license you are renewing; the application must be completely filled out, signed, and dated). Specify if the license is to be mailed to the home or company and provide an email address.
  • A copy of your current refresher training certificate (and any other refresher training certificates since your last license with DLS).
  • A copy of a government-issued ID (acceptable list on our website).
  • For Deleader-supervisors and Deleader-workers, applicants must include the completed DLS Reporting Physician’s Statement form attached to the application. This form must include respirator approval and be signed by a physician.
    Blood lead level and ZPP results must be within 3 months of the date of application.
  • Individuals and/or contractors renewing their asbestos or lead licenses can send their application along with the required documentation to Lead&asbestosenforcement@mass.gov

Deleader Contractor License: $575 annual
Deleader Supervisor License: $150 annual
Deleader Certification‐Training Provider: $1,775 annual
Deleader Duplicate License: $45 annual
Deleader Worker License: $50 annual
Lead‐Safe Renovator Contractor License: $375 every 5 years
Lead‐Safe Renovator Training Provider: $1,775 (for non-state, federally-recognized Indian Tribe,
local government, or non‐profit organization) $75 (for State, federally-recognized Indian Tribe, local government, or non‐profit organization)

Lead‐Safe Renovator Duplicate License: $45 annual

For first-time licenses, applications must be submitted in person.

Only renewal applications can be sent by email, no initial licenses can be processed in this manner.

Renewal applications along with proof of online payment shall be emailed to Lead&asbestosenforcement@mass.gov. Incomplete applications or not submitting all required supporting documents will delay the review process and may result in your license being renewed after its expiration date. Your renewed license will be mailed to the address provided on the application.
