A recovered theft title is issued to a vehicle that was previously titled as salvage repairable theft with damage sustained from a theft and that has been repaired, inspected, and re-titled as recovered theft.

How to apply Apply for a recovered theft or reconstructed title
After you pass the salvage inspection, to apply for a reconstructed title or recovered theft title, you must bring the following documents in person to any RMV Service Center:

A completed Registration and Title Application. If registering the vehicle, your insurance agent must stamp the form.

The current salvage repairable title with the assignment of title section(s) on the back of the title completed. Additionally, an authorization for payoff of a salvage vehicle (if applicable)

Current certificate of registration (if applicable)

Please allow 4 to 6 weeks after receipt of the application for a Reconstructed Title or Recovered Theft Title to be processed and mailed.
