Next steps

1. What to Know

   Your city or town may apply for up to 80 hours of help from a MassDEP Municipal Assistance Coordinator (MAC) for a single recycling or waste reduction project.

   This project should address a high-priority recycling, solid waste, or Pay-As-You-Throw (PAYT) issue to which your community is willing and able to commit its own staff.

   SMRP Technical Assistance awards are competitive and subject to MAC availability.

2. Eligibility Criteria

   Before applying for SMRP Technical Assistance, your city or town must have:

   • Completed its MassDEP Municipal Recycling & Solid Waste surveys for the last two calendar years at Re-TRAC Connect™, and
   • Spoken with its assigned MassDEP Municipal Assistance Coordinator (MAC) about the recycling or waste reduction project that it is considering.

3. How to Apply

   Apply for SMRP Technical Assistance through Re-TRAC Connect™, using the municipal account MassDEP has established for your city or town. If you have forgotten your account login, contact Rebecca Ferguson.

4. What Happens Next

   MassDEP will complete its review of your proposal and notify you of its decision. If your city or town receives an award, you will need to assign a local project manager and sign a mutually agreed upon scope of work to begin the process of working with your assigned MAC.
