What you need for Are State-Listed Species on a Property? Request a Voluntary Assessment
Property owners may at any time undertake a voluntary assessment following protocols pre-approved in writing by the Division to determine if Threatened and Species of Special Concern are present on a property (or portion thereof).
Property owners will need a proposed protocol for assessing the property and the appropriate fee for review.

Mail the protocol and fee to the Division. Once the assessment is complete, mail the results to the Division.

Review of assessment
Upon our approval of that assessment, it shall remain valid for 3 years from the date of its approval. The approval provides you with a guarantee that no new occurrence records will be considered in relation to a MESA or MEPA (321 CMR 13.2) review of the property for a period of 5 years. This guarantee does not include any species that is subsequently listed.
