What you need   for Interlibrary Loan at the State Library

State employees can submit requests for books and journal articles not found in the State Library's collections.

All borrowers must hold a valid State Library card and are subject to replacement fees from the lending library for damaged or lost volumes.

Please note the State Library's interlibrary loan service is devoted to supporting research programs for state government. We cannot supply non-work related loan requests for personal reading or continuing education courses--please inquire at your local public library about acquiring these through its interlibrary loan service.

State Library card holders who need on-site access to local academic libraries for their projects may be issued a Boston Library Consortium card. Contact the Reference Department for more information.

The State Library participates in interlibrary borrowing of some of its collections with Massachusetts public libraries and with other libraries through OCLC Worldcat You can request materials in Massachusetts libraries through Commonwealth Catalog (ComCat) with a valid Massachusetts public library card. Contact your local Massachusetts library for more information or assistance.
