What you need   for Register for a State Courts Against Road Rage (SCARR) course

A Massachusetts JOL driver's license or learner's permit holder that commits certain categories of motor vehicle violations is required under law to complete the SCARR program.  Drivers may also be mandated to complete SCARR as assigned by a specific court.

How to register   Register for a State Courts Against Road Rage (SCARR) course

Go to NSC's website to register for a SCARR course.

  • You must provide:
    • You driver’s license number
    • If a court is referring you to the class, the name of the court is required
    • Applicable fee

Call the National Safety Council (NSC) at (866) 398-0864

  • You must provide:

    • Your driver’s license number

    • If a court is referring you to the class, the name of the court is required

    • Applicable fee

The NSC will mail your confirmation to you.

 

Mail the check or money order payable to “National Safety Council” to:

National Safety Council

Attn: SCARR Program

Along with your check or money order, you must include:

  • Name as it appears on your driver’s license

  • Complete mailing address

  • Your driver’s license number

  • Date of birth

  • Who is mandating you to complete the class

    • Registry of Motor Vehicles, or

    • Court (if court, provide the full name/location of the court)

The NSC will mail your confirmation to you.

Class Preparation

You must bring a copy of your official RMV driving record to the class. The driving record must be a printed version. Copies uploaded to your cell phone or any other electronic device will NOT be accepted. Failure to bring a printed copy of your driving record to class will result in the refusal of your entry into the class. You must contact the NSC to reschedule your class with an additional rescheduling fee.

After completing SCARR, you will have a better understanding of the repercussions of irresponsible driving behaviors and will know how to better handle peer pressure.  You will come away with information you can put into practice immediately to protect yourself and others on the road.
