What you need
A 940 certification letter provides a summary of Massachusetts taxable wages reported by an employer, and the total amount of paid into unemployment in a specific year.
Employers can request a 940 certification letter online.
How to request
- Log in to Unemployment Services for Employers.
- Select View more employer details, then select Additional actions.
- From the Request 940 certification panel, select Request 940 certification.
- Follow the prompts to complete the request
- The certification will be mailed to the employer’s address. It’s also available in the Action center under View letters.
