Fees for Toxics Use Reduction (TUR) Online Reporting
At the time you file your TUR Report, your company will also need to provide MassDEP with information it needs to calculate your Annual Toxics Use Fee. This fee is based on the number of:
- People your company employs, and
- Listed chemicals that it manufactures, processes, or otherwise uses above applicable thresholds.
You will be presented with a worksheet during the online reporting process. The information you enter will be used to calculate your TUR fee. MassDEP will mail you a TUR fee invoice in late summer. If your company does not pay within 30 days of the due date, it will be subject to a statutory late fee of $1,000.

What to Know
If your company is subject to the Toxics Use Reduction Act (TURA), it is required to file an annual Toxics Use Report that identifies:
- Every TURA-listed chemical the company manufactures, processes, or otherwise uses above applicable thresholds;
- All production processes and products that use one or more listed chemicals; and
- The amount of each listed chemical generated as byproduct (wasted), shipped in product, and released to the environment.
Your company must also pay an Annual Toxics Use Fee, based the number of people it employs and the number of listed chemicals it manufactures, processes, or otherwise uses above applicable thresholds.
The TUR report must be filed online or postmarked by July 1 after the reporting year (e.g., by July 1, 2022, for reporting year 2021). If you submit the report more than 30 days after this deadline, your company will be subject to a statutory late fee of $1,000. Additional enforcement actions may also be possible.
MassDEP will mail you a TUR fee invoice in late summer. If your company does not pay within 30 days of the due date, it will be subject to a statutory late fee of $1,000.Review the Instructions & Guidance
