What is an Independent Living Center?
Independent Living Centers (ILCs) are community-based non-profit organizations run by people with disabilities. At ILCs, you can work with peers and advocates to live more independently.
How does MassAbility work with ILCs? MassAbility supports ILCs and evaluates their performance on a regular basis.

- Referral resources for finding accessible housing, assistive technology, transportation, and more
- Advocacy programs for understanding your disability rights
If you have a severe disability, ILCs can:
- help you transition from a rehab facility to a home and/or community setting
- help you stay at home and in your community
