About the Office of Environmental Justice and Equity

We work with every office and agency under EEA, to implement environmental justice strategies and principles into our everyday work.

Who We Are

The Office of Environmental Justice and Equity sits in the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs. We work with every office and agency under the Secretary, to implement environmental justice strategies and principles into our everyday work.

The Office of Environmental Justice and Equity (OEJE) is part of the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA). We work with all EEA agencies to make sure equity and environmental justice are embedded in programs, policies, and public engagement—so that all Massachusetts residents, especially those historically left out of decision-making, are protected from environmental harms and are a part of building a healthier, more just future.

Our team includes:

  • Undersecretary: María Belén Power
  • Assistant Secretary: Crystal Johnson
