Courtney joined MassDOT in January 2022 as a co-op in the stormwater unit. In May 2022, her co-op turned into a full-time position joining the Wetlands and Water Resources Unit as an Environmental Analyst. In May 2023, she transitioned to Wetlands and Water Resources Coordinator, overseeing MassDOT’s bridge projects. Courtney completed her bachelor’s degree in ecology and environmental science at the University of Maine, and her master’s degree in environmental studies and sustainability at Unity College.
At MassDOT, Courtney oversees the environmental permitting on MassDOT bridge projects to ensure they are meeting the requirements of the construction advertisement program. She assists with reviewing projects and permit applications, to ensure they meet regulatory requirements. While doing so, she looks for opportunities to avoid, minimize, and mitigate impacts to the environment. Her favorite aspect of her role has been securing permits for transportation projects that are not only going to improve safety and transportation needs but also promote environmental benefits such as climate resiliency, wildlife passage, and stormwater treatment.
In her free time, Courtney enjoys hiking, travelling, spending time with friends and family, and enjoying summer days at her family's lake house on Lake Winnipesaukee.
