Coastal marinas, yacht clubs, and boatyards provide critical services to the boating public—maintaining, mooring, fueling, storing, and launching vessels of all kinds. Clean water is a key attribute of successful boating-based businesses, drawing boaters to the coast and keeping them coming back year after year.
To help marinas maintain and improve coastal water quality and comply with environmental regulations, CZM provides direct technical assistance and has developed the following resources:
- Massachusetts Clean Marina Guide - Produced in 2001, this detailed reference for owners and operators of marine boating facilities provides information on strategies and practices aimed at reducing marina and boating impacts on the coastal environment.
- Pressure Washing at Marinas - This web page includes links to information on managing pressure washing marinas in an environmentally friendly manner, including CZM’s A Guide to Selecting Pressure Washing Management Practices and Technologies: Supplement to the Massachusetts Clean Marina Guide (PDF, 1 MB).
