DCMS Tip Sheet Volume 2 Edition 13 Single Project Limit

December 1, 2021

Greetings from DCAMM Contractor Certification!

This tip sheet we would like to discuss OSHA Violations  and what they mean during the application process under Compliance with Laws (Section 6).

Calculating your Single Project Limit

Have you ever wondered how your Single Project Limit is calculated? Here is how it is done.

The Single Project Limit is based on a calculation that takes into account your two highest evaluated projects. The contract values from your two highest evaluated projects are averaged and then a multiplier is applied to calculate the limit. The multiplier is determined by the average score of all your evaluated projects. If your average score is 80 to 84 you get a 1.3 multiplier.  If your average score is 85 to 100 you get a 1.8 multiplier. The minimum Single Project Limit required for Certification is $150,000.

Limits are Subject to Capping

Keep in mind that Single Project Limits are subject to capping.

Your Single Project Limit on your bonding letter will cap your calculated Single Project Limit.

Small Prime Contractors have a Single Project Limit that is capped at $500,000.

Your Single Project Limit can never be higher than your Aggregate Work Limit. The Single Project Limit will be capped by the Aggregate Work Limit if the Aggregate Work Limit is lower.

 Other Factors to Consider

Projects used to calculate your Single Project Limit must be for approved Categories of Work. We cannot use an evaluation to calculate your Single Project Limit if you are not currently qualified for that Category.

General Building Construction (GBC) Limits must be calculated based on the highest valued project being a GBC project. If the highest valued project is for a different Category of Work, then a separate GBC limit will be calculated based on the two highest valued GBC projects.
