When is contractor certification needed? When the construction project is published under M.G.L. Chapter 149 or Chapter 149A; it must be put out by an awarding authority (any Massachusetts public agency); must be for the construction, reconstruction, demolition, maintenance, or repair of a vertical building; and must have an estimated construction cost over $150K . For Filed Sub-Bidders all of the above and the filed sub-bidder category of work is over $25,000.
