DYS - Taunton Southeast Regional Youth Service Center

This Department of Youth Services (DYS) project entails the construction of a new building which will replace an over-sized and outdated youth center on the Taunton State Hospital campus.

The project includes housing for up to 45 youth in a secure, therapeutic environment with modern facilities for education, health and dining services, and recreation in an energy-efficient building.

Project Features

  • The building is designed in a backwards C-shape facing the southwest to capture optimal solar orientation and views to an existing meadow and mature trees.
  • Outdoor recreation areas on the private, south side of the building offer a variety of active and passive activities, space for youth performances and art, and outdoor dining and events. 
  • Energy efficiency is bolstered by a high-performance building envelope, a ground source geothermal well system, and a rooftop solar panel array.
