Eric Woodward – Assistant Supervisor – NEPA Unit

Eric joined MassDOT in August 2016 as an Environmental Analyst in the Wetlands and Water Resources Unit, where he was welcomed to the team and quickly brought up to speed. After beginning his MassDOT career in Wetlands and Water Resources, Eric shifted his focus to the MEPA/NEPA Unit where he is currently the NEPA Unit Assistant Supervisor.

Eric completed his Geology and Oceanography bachelor's degree at the University of Rhode Island, and worked in the private sector as a driller’s assistant and as an environmental field technician.

At MassDOT, Eric is responsible for assigning federally aided projects for environmental review in support of MassDOT’s construction advertisement program. He assists in the preparation of weekly project progress meetings, helps in the identification of projects with potential delays and permitting strategies to ensure timely project delivery, and supports leadership with various design initiatives. Eric also has represented Environmental for projects that undergo streamlined reviews. Eric oversees the efforts of staff to help navigate the often-complex nuances of environmental compliance, and enjoys seeing his work provide the public with valuable transportation improvements in their everyday lives.

In his free time, Eric spends as much time as possible outdoors fishing, hunting, golfing, playing hockey or relaxing by a lake or the ocean with friends.
